Recently I wrote a blog post for edSocialMedia introducing new hashtags for independent school educators to use on Twitter. My goal was to make it easier for independent school people to find and share information related to independent schools.
I also wrote a post a few months ago declaring that Google Plus is Dead! Well it appears that I was wrong…
Google Plus is not dead – it’s actually thriving. I had slowly been changing my opinion of Google Plus and then I saw that Google began merging search and Google+. This changes everything!
Whether you like Google Plus or not doesn’t really matter! You need to pay attention to this new social media channel because Google is changing the game relating to search and that does matter.
A really cool thing I recently learned was that the hashtags I introduced in the edSocialMedia article also work for Google Plus. More on this later…
If You Can’t Beat Them – Join Them
Because Google Plus has become an important tool for your inbound marketing strategy I think it’s important they we all dive in and learn as much as possible about this tool. One part of Google Plus that really intrigues me as having great potential, on so many levels, is it’s Hangout feature. Hangouts allows you to have a video conference with a maximum of 10 people.
I’ve never participated in a Hangout but I hope we can all learn more about this feature together.
As a result I am starting a weekly Hangout for independent school people on Tuesday nights at 9pm EST called #indyschool Hangout.
Beginning this Tuesday, January 24 at 9pm I will start a Hangout called #indyschool. Prior to Tuesday feel free me to Circle me at my Brendan Schneider Google Plus Profile.
For our first chat I would like to discuss Google Plus, learn about Hangouts, and answer any burning questions you have about social media or inbound marketing.
If you have any questions please let me know by posting them in the comments section below and I like forward to Hanging out with you on Tuesday night (pun intended!)
