social-media-saturday-espressoHappy Social Media Saturday! Listed below are links to interesting things I found on the web this week: cool tools, great blog articles, memorable Tweets – anything that stuck out to me and I think is worth sharing. I encourage you to check them out for yourself.

Blog Post: Great Schools Admissions Marketing Just Got Easier - Innovative Marketing Resources, a strategic marketing company based in Shirley, Massachusetts, today announced the release of a new tool used to forecast marketing activity required to meet school enrollment targets. The tool is designed to increase effectiveness of schools marketing and enrollment marketing officers. The school admissions marketing activity calculator uses a conversion effectiveness model by grade level to enable schools to plan marketing campaigns, messages and tactics that attract the specific parents and students they need to engage to achieve full enrollment.

Blog PostTop 10 New Social Media Tools from 2011 - One of the most popular articles I wrote in 2011 was the first one of the year, a recap of the hottest social media apps from 2010. In an ecosystem where dozens of new social networks and apps and services get created every month, it is hard to stand out and hard to find the diamonds in the rough that really do something new.

Some of the names on this list are not brand new in 2011, but this was the year that they made their mark (see Instagram and Rapportive).

Three of this year’s new tools could be categorized as social networks: Google+, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Several tools from the list are utlizing bookmarklets, shortcut actions and links you can launch from your browsers bookmark bar. These have been around for some time but what you can accomplish with a bookmarklet is getting increasingly useful with the growth of social media.

Efficiency is also a big theme. From automation to auto-curation.

As we continue to push the boundaries of what social media can do, it is the innovation and intelligence of tools like these that allow us to continue to move forward.
