In preparation for the SchneiderB VirCon5, I’m highlighting the ten school marketing experts who will be presenting on November 4, 2017. Learn More about the VirCon5.
This is 10 Questions with Andy Traub. Andy Traub is the Owner of Take Permission Media Network in the Nashville, Tennesse area.
1. What is your session title for the VirCon5?
“How To Create Great Video For Less Than $100, Even If You’re Not A Tech Guru.”
2. What will the attendees learn/know after watching your session?
They will know the equipment to buy to look good on video, how to get over being nervous on camera, and how to always have ideas for videos.
3. What is your favorite social media channel and why?
I like Instagram for its simplicity for my personal platform, but I like Facebook because it’s so robust. It is literally taking over the internet with its investment in live video, original video programming, and a continued focus on mobile in everything they do.
4. What is one marketing goal that you hope to accomplish during the 17-18 school year?
Do more of what works when it comes to empowering other people to use video to share their message with the world. Video is taking over, and people need to get off the sidelines and start getting better at it. I want to help more people do that.
5. What is your favorite marketing piece of advice for schools?
Spend more time researching who makes the decision to send a child to your school before you start spending time and money on talking about yourself. Make sure you know who you’re talking to before you start talking. And then be human. Speak to their pain, worries, and dreams. People pay for peace of mind.
6. What is your favorite marketing book?
Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? by Seth Godin. Every organization should strive to be filled with indispensable people who will then do great marketing.
7. What is something that people might be surprised to know about you?
I feel fear on days that end in Y and I use that to tell me what to do next. Where I feel fear, I go. That’s how I know I’m on the right track.
8. Kindle or Actual Book?
9. iPhone or Android?
10. What is one App that you can’t live without?
Alexa – The amount of things I can do with our Amazon Echos is staggering, and I use the Alexa app to add features to our Echo devices. My favorite use for the app is to use the “Drop In” feature to call my Echos from my phone so I can basically intercom into my house from anywhere. It’s a great way to talk to my kids when I’m out of the house
