We started our Pinterest account a few years ago as an experiment because Pinterest was the first social media channel dominated by women. From our internal research at Sewickley Academy, we know that moms are typically responsible for making the school choice decision for their children. As a result, Pinterest was a place that we wanted to have a presence. In the past school year alone our Pinterest account has driven the third most traffic to our website and blog, only slightly behind Twitter.
While Pinterest can be a lot of fun we also believe in its ability to drive traffic, and interest, in our school’s website. Pinterest can also be a huge time suck and I’ve wasted hours looking for recipes, reading about social media tips and tricks, and even how to clean our washing machine.
One of the tools that has seriously helped me manage our Pinterest account, as well as my time spent doing so, is Tailwind. As a result, I’d like to share 5 reasons why I love Tailwind for Pinterest.
1. Scheduling for Pinterest
The number 1 reason I absolutely love Tailwind is its ability to schedule pins on Pinterest. Yes, you heard me correctly!
Yes, you heard me correctly!
Tailwind allows me to add pins into a queue which is then published by Tailwind according to my pinning schedule. I can’t even begin to tell you how much time this has saved me because I can log into Tailwind and Pinterest, schedule my pins for the week, and then move onto other important tasks without losing a ton of time playing on Pinterest. The scheduling has also been fantastic in terms of raising our Pinterest’s account profile.
2. Weekly Pinning Schedule
Tailwind gives me the ability to specify when I’d like my pins to be published. Additionally, after using Tailwind for a while, the app will suggest times when my pins receive high engagement and makes it very easy to add those specific times to my schedule. I currently pin 184 times a week using Tailwind and I couldn’t imagine having to do that without Tailwind.
3. Analytics for Pinterest
I have to admit that taking the time to spend reviewing analytics remains difficult for me. I typically get caught up in the day-to-day requirements of my job. However, Tailwind’s analytics tab does an expert job showing me exactly what I need to know in a quick and easily to decipher fashion. Each week before I schedule my pins for the week I spend a few minutes with the analytics to measure, evaluate, and learn from our Pinterest efforts.
4. Rescheduling Pinterest Pins
This is my absolutely FAVORITE little dirty secret to Tailwind. Tailwind allows me to filter by date the pins that I’ve published and then repin the ones that have received repins, likes, and comments. I’ve found that by repinning pins that have already received engagement I’ve been able to increase our followers on Pinterest as well as the engagement with our Pinterest account.
The reason I like the Dashboard so much is very similar to why I love Tailwind’s analytics – it cuts through the noise and tells me exactly what I need to know. Each time I log into Tailwind I can see repins, domain pins, followers, recent comments, most pinned boards, and suggestions from Tailwind about how to make our account better. This is another huge time saver for me!
Now after reading the above 5 reasons I hope you can understand why I love Tailwind so much. I really can’t image managing our school’s Pinterest page without Tailwind!
As if the above reasons are not enough reasons to love Tailwind I encourage you to check out their incredibly educational blog about Pinterest and social media in general.
