Resources for School Marketers
Every school marketer needs great resources. Here are some that I use, or have used, and recommend. Hopefully, they’ll help you as much as they’ve helped me.
Disclaimer: I am an affiliate for some of these resources which means that, at no cost additional to you, I make a commission if you purchase via my link.
Sumo – is really an everything tool. While they have a free option their paid plans are where the real power is located. We use this tool to add functionality to our school website. That functionality includes social media share buttons, full-screen take-overs, smart bar calls to action, and pop-ups. I encourage you to check it out.
Social Media Tools
Sprout Social – This is the tool I use to manage and monitor my personal Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram accounts. The reason I’ve used this tool for years is their smart inbox feature which allows me to save time by only having to check one area to see what messages I need to do with at that time.
Grum – I use Grum to schedule my Instagram posts. Yes, you read that correctly. I use Grum to schedule my Instagram posts. It is really that cool and that easy.
Tailwind App – This is my favorite Pinterest management tool and I can’t imagine my Pinterest life without it. My favorite Tailwind feature is the ability to schedule pins for later. I encourage you to check it out and take advantage of their free trial.
If you’re just getting started out with creating a blog and using WordPress I can recommend Flywheel enough. Please, please, please don’t go with a cheap web host to save a few dollars. While Flywheel is a little bit more expensive than those cheap web hosts the extra price is worth it in terms of stability, security, speed, service, and automatic backups.
SchneiderB Media runs on Pressidium and I can’t recommend them more highly enough for managed WordPress hosting.
OptinMonster – Powerful pop-up opt-in form. Run A/B tests, display on exit intent, and other fun tools. This is the tool I use on SchneiderB.com.
Leadpages – This is my tool of choice for creating landing pages. I’ve tried a number of different services in the past and this service is the best. The price is reasonable, it’s incredibly easy to create professional looking landing pages, you can easily A/B test your pages, and they offer a ton of pre-designed templates that you can use.
Evernote – This tool is the center of my digital life! I store everything I want to keep in Evernote and I’m not sure what I would do without this tool.
Trello – I use this tool to keep my life organized and my projects on time with Trello’s list based system.
ConvertKit – I switched to ConvertKit from Mailchimp over a year ago and haven’t looked back. I used ConvertKit for all my emails at SchneiderB.com and recommend this easy to use tool to create lead nurturing emails for your school.
StudioPress – After you create a blog for your school using Blue Host, I recommend that you check out a theme from StudioPress. I absolutely love the themes from StudioPress and you can find a theme that will complement your school’s main site.
GoDaddy – I use and recommend GoDaddy to register domain names.
Wistia – I host my videos at Wistia and even though I have to pay I feel it’s more than worth it – the bandwidth is excellent, the ability to embed a video is easy and customizable, and the analytics are unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
ScreenFlow – I use ScreenFlow to make the screen recordings I use on SchneiderB Media and actually prefer this tool to use my video editing.
