I enjoyed a wonderfully simple and relaxed Christmas this year with my family which gave me time to play with my son. And play we did! We didn’t play video games or use electronics – we played knee hockey. It was after our third game that I realized there was a connection between knee hockey and social media – let me explain…
Wish List #1 – Knee Hockey
All my son wanted for Christmas was knee hockey. Knee hockey is actually not it’s official name but the name given to the game from one of my son’s friends. Knee Hockey is actually a set of two quick assemble goals, 6 mini-hockey sticks, and 4 balls which serve as the puck. Knee Hockey comes from the fact that in order to use the mini-sticks you need to get on your knees. These are spirited games and a ton of fun!
Knee Hockey & Social Media
My son and I played three tough games and I think I actually started to sweat. My wife called my son to help her with something so I thought I work on my shot a little while I was by myself. I took some shots and played with different sticks but after about 5 minutes I realized that knee hockey and social media are very similar – both are more fun with someone else.
It just wasn’t fun playing knee hockey by myself and I eagerly waited for my son’s return. I also realized that the most enjoyment I get out of social media is the interaction with other people – either through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or even getting comments on my blog.
Take some time over this next week and interact with someone on social media. You’ll have much more fun – trust me.
